Join the Church - St. John's Episcopal“Will you strive for justice and peace among all peoples? I will with God’s help.”

All who “work, pray and give to the spreading of the kingdom of God” are welcomed as followers of Christ in the Episcopal Church (Book of Common Prayer p. 856). By worshiping regularly at St. John’s and giving support to the church’s mission, one becomes an active member.

Formal membership in the church is expressed through the sacraments of Holy Baptism and Confirmation.

Baptism

Baptism is the sacrament by which God adopts us as God’s children and makes us members of the church, the Body of Christ. The Episcopal Church recognizes the baptisms of all denominations. If you are considering being baptized, please speak with the clergy. If you have been baptized in another church and wish to become an active baptized member of St. John’s, please contact the parish office to request a Letter of Transfer.

Confirmation

Confirmation is the sacrament in which we express our mature commitment to Christ and are renewed by the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop. Those who serve in elected positions of the parish or diocese are usually confirmed members of the church. Confirmation is offered annually at the visitation of our bishop. If you are interested in being confirmed, please speak with the clergy.
