The Rev. Amanda Knouse began her ministry at St. John’s on July 1, 2019.
Amanda was formed in the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania and is thrilled to be called to serve at St. John’s and the diocese she calls home. Growing up in Huntingdon County, she spent her teenage years attending every diocesan conference and retreat offered and worshiping at St. John’s in Huntingdon. During college, she served on the Diocesan Youth Commission and the Higher Education Committee while working as the youth minister at St. Luke’s, Altoona. She graduated from Juniata College in 2004.
She completed her studies at Virginia Theological Seminary in 2008. Over the past decade she has served as the associate rector of St. James’ Parish in the Diocese of Maryland, the Camp Director of the Bishop Claggett Camp and Conference Center, and in 2012, she was called as rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Delaplane, Virginia. Amanda is passionate about inter-generational ministries, forming communities, and creating space for worship and formation.
Pastor Amanda is married to John Knouse, and they have two children: Ruth (7) and Caleb (4).
“The Holy Spirit is alive and well at St. John’s! I look forward to hearing your stories, walking with you as disciples, and discovering how we might serve God’s beloved together.”
