Trouble I’ve Seen… Changing the Way the Church Views Racism

Join a discussion of Trouble I’ve Seen, Drew Hart’s provocative book about racism and church, Thurs., Aug. 24, 7:30 pm, or Sat., Aug. 26, 10 am, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Lancaster.

In advance of Drew Hart‘s talk, sponsored by Lancaster Interchurch Peace Witness in Lancaster in September, St. John’s invites you to two opportunities to respond to Hart’s book, Trouble I’ve Seen… Changing the Way the Church Views Racism.

All are welcome to either or both discussions:

  • Thursday, 8/24, 7:30 pm
  • Saturday, 8/26, 10 am

Theologian and blogger Hart is Assistant Professor of Theology at Messiah College and recently completed doctoral studies in theology and ethics at Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia. In this provocative book, he places police brutality, mass incarceration, anti-black stereotypes, poverty, and everyday acts of racism within the larger framework of white supremacy. Leading readers toward Jesus, Hart offers concrete practices for churches that seek solidarity with the oppressed and are committed to racial justice.
