Earlier this month, onions, garlic, kale, sugar snap peas, hull peas, Swiss chard, spinach, carrots, lettuce and cabbage were planted at St. John’s parish garden at the home of Doug Brown and Angela Cuthbert in Strasburg. Doug reports that the plants survived this morning’s snow and cold temperatures (see photo).
Volunteers are again needed on Saturday, April 26 from 8 a.m.- noon (weather permitting) to plant 70 pounds of potatoes.
The produce grown will supplement our food pantry, be distributed at Community Breakfast, used at St. John’s functions, and donated to the Lancaster County Council of Churches.
