Whether it’s a firm handshake, a friendly smile, or a neat appearance, first impressions are often lasting impressions. They can be the difference between getting the job, starting a friendship, clinching the sale…or not.
The same is true of our church. The impression our property creates and the ways in which we greet newcomers and long-comers, can be the difference between nurturing a growing community in Christ…or not.
Realtors have long touted the importance of “curb appeal,” or the impression a house creates from the exterior. Is it a well-loved home in which residents care…or not?
Often, as I make my daily rounds on our property, or stand in the breezeway to greet worshipers on days when I usher, I ask myself what our “house” is projecting and how I can make it better.
I am grateful to so many of you who have offered assistance with painting, parish clean-up days, and a multitude of other efforts to help beautify both our grounds and common spaces. I am equally grateful for warm greetings on Sunday mornings.
