St. John’s will host its final Evensong and organ recital of the season, Evensong for Eastertide, Sunday May 19 at 4 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
As is the custom of St. John’s Evensong services, a free will offering will benefit a charitable cause. The May 19 event will support the three historic black Louisiana churches impacted by arson this spring: St. Mary Baptist Church, Greater Union Baptist, and Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
St. John’s choir will sing settings by Charles Wood, Michael McCabe, and Kevin Hildebrad. In recognition of Louisiana’s French heritage, Minister of Music and organist Paul Reese will perform a recital of French and French-inspired music by Jehan Alain, Louis Vierne, Eugene Gigout, Francois Couperin and J.S. Bach.
A reception in the parish hall will follow Evensong.
