Dear St. John’s family,
Fred Bush, a pillar of St. John’s and the Lancaster community, departed this life on August 18 in the comforting presence of his family. Following an admission to LGH, Fred made the trip to Larchmont, New York, to stay with his daughter, Nancy, and her husband, Frank. Before his discharge from the hospital, Fred told me, “I’m ready to go any time.” I like to think that things went the way Fred wanted.
We will celebrate the life and ministry of Fred Bush this Saturday, September 10th at 11:00 AM at St. John’s, with a Burial Eucharist. Fred, being a self-described “high churchman,” had a number of specific liturgical requests, including the use of incense at his service. While there will not be visitation with the family before the service, all are invited to a reception following the service at the Bachman Center on the campus of Homestead Village. Memorial gifts made to St. John’s in Fred’s honor will be directed to the music ministry.
Please remember Fred with prayers and great thanksgiving.
“Rest eternal grant to him, O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon him.”
John+
