Children in grades 1 to 5 are invited to attend a Day Camp in celebration of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, Monday, January 15, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m at St. John’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 321 W. Chestnut Street, Lancaster. Over the course of the day, students will explore the Declaration of Universal Human Rights through games, discussion, stories and art.
Playwright Barry Kornhauser, who oversees the Family Arts Collaborative at Millersville University, will lead a movement workshop. Working in mixed-age groups, children will also prepare video vignettes about different parts of the declaration. The day will end with a viewing of the videos and moment of quiet reflection and prayer for the continuation of Dr. King’s work.
The camp is an exciting, high-energy day, and children leave feeling they’ve contributed to keeping Dr. King’s legacy alive. There is no fee and lunch will be provided. Attendees are asked to arrive on time and stay until the program concludes. Please pre-register by Jan. 12 by calling St. John’s church office at 717-299-1188.
