Praying by Name

Greetings St. John’s,

I am so grateful to be back at St. John’s after a wonderful sabbatical and I look forward to worshipping with you on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. or 10:15 a.m. As we prepare for worship this fall, please see the following letter regarding our practice of praying for leaders by name: A Message from the Rector.

I remain prayerfully yours,
Amanda+

Dear Amanda: I knew you would have something to say about this; the Gospel tells us to pray for our enemies. I am so glad you stand up for the Gospel, as I suspected you would. Sue Zuke stood up for the Gospel, too, and what she said took courage, and I told her so!

    In Jesus Name, Eileen

Thank you, Amanda for all of these beautiful, historical, scriptural and contemporary reasons to continue in prayer for one another by name.
