The Lancaster Interchurch Peace Witness, of which St. John’s is a member, will host Gordon Oyer, author of Pursuing the Spiritual Roots of Protest, Monday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. at East Chestnut Street Mennonite Church, 432 East Chestnut Street, Lancaster.
In November 1964, the peace activist giants from that generation met at Gethsemani Abbey, Kentucky, to discern a faithful Christian response to the war and injustice of the ‘60s. Pursuing the Spiritual Roots of Protest, remembers and reclaims the spiritual roots of their radical practice of Christian discipleship.
All are invited to join Gordon Oyer as he recalls this seminal event and discusses his book at Monday’s free event open to the public.
