Good afternoon St. John’s,
I am thrilled to announce a new addition to the St. John’s staff. Joe Pritchett, candidate for Holy Orders in the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania, will begin his ministry with us on April 13, Palm Sunday, as our part-time Assistant Rector! Joe brings a passion for worship, teaching, and pastoral care with him. As quarter-time Assistant, Joe will assist with leading worship on Sundays, pastoral visits throughout the week, and co-facilitating formation opportunities throughout the year.
Joe has lived in Lancaster since 2017 with his wife Steph and their three children Liam (14), Emerson (11), and Oliver (8), along with his sister-in-law Julie. He was born in Connecticut and grew up at the beach in Delaware. He earned a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctorate from the University of Delaware. He did his academic preparation for ministry though the Stevenson School for Ministry and (God willing and the people consenting) will be ordained a transitional deacon this June.
Before moving to Lancaster, Joe worked in higher education in both Delaware and Boston, MA. As Joe will be joining St. John’s in a bi-vocational capacity, he also currently serves as the Director for Faith and Meaning at Franklin & Marshall College, where he oversees religious and spiritual life, leads the College’s mindfulness program, and teaches. For the past three years, Joe has led students on pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago in Spain. He was recently made a George Greenia Fellow in Pilgrimage Studies through the Institute of Pilgrimage Studies at William & Mary.
Joe loves his family and friends, spending time with good books and good coffee, being outdoors, rugby, and baseball (especially the Boston Red Sox). He is so excited to join St. John’s to share his love of God and love for God’s people.
I look forward to ministering alongside Joe and welcoming him to the St. John’s family in the weeks ahead. Please extend a warm welcome to him and his family when you see them!
God’s peace,
Amanda+
