All Saints Evensong

Free-will offering to benefit Hurricane Florence victims

The St. John’s Episcopal Church choir invites and welcomes all to a celebration of Evensong for All Saints, Sunday, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m. A reception in the Parish Hall will follow.

The service will begin with an organ recital by Paul Reese, St. John’s minister of music and organist, who will play music by Louis Vierne, one of the finest French organists and composers of the early 20th century. The choir will sing settings by Charles Wood, John Stainer, and Robert Hobby, accompanied by Dr. Karl Moyer, professor emeritus of music at Millersville University and well-known Lancaster organist. The congregation will join in the singing of the opening and closing hymns.

A free-will offering, designated for Brunswick (NC) Family Assistance and facilitated by the ALERT (All Lancaster Episcopal Response Team), will benefit victims of Hurricane Florence. Blank cards will be available for anyone wishing to write notes of encouragement, hope, and prayers to those affected by the hurricane and resulting flooding.
