Celebrate the life and legacy of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at a concert by The Essence of Joy Alumni Singers, Saturday, January 13 at 3 p.m. at St. John’s. The chorus is comprised of alumni of the Essence of Joy Choir of The Pennsylvania State University.
Under the direction of Dr. Anthony T. Leach, professor of music/music education at Penn State, the group strives to inspire and unify with performances of sacred and secular music from the African and African-American choral traditions. The chorus has performed nationally and internationally, and released its first CD, entitled “Joy,” in 2011.
Admission is free. A freewill offering to support the chorus will be accepted. Following the concert, a reception will be held in St. John’s Parish Hall.
