Our Next Rector

We are delighted to share with you that the Vestry of St. John’s, following the recommendation of the Search Committee, has called The Rev. Amanda Knouse to be the next Rector of St. John’s. Pastor Knouse will begin her ministry among us on July 1.

Pastor Knouse is a native of Central Pennsylvania. She has been serving as Rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Delaplane, Virginia, since January of 2012. A graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary, Amanda is heavily involved in youth and family ministries in her current parish and is an avid lover of the outdoors. Prior to her arrival at Emmanuel, Amanda served as the Camp Director of the Bishop Claggett Center and as associate rector at St. James’ parish in Maryland. She and her husband, John, have two young children, Ruthie and Caleb.

We commend the Search Committee, chaired by Leslie Morgan, for its diligent, spirit-led work in this process.

Amanda will conclude her ministry at Emmanuel on May 31 and make her transition during the month of June. We pray for the people of Emmanuel, and for Amanda and her family, as they walk through this transition. Fr. Glenn, while actively seeking his next call/position, anticipates that he will be able to be with us, along with Fr. Stephen, until Amanda’s arrival, making for a very smooth transition.

In our Lord,

Tom Bond, Senior Warden
Debbie Carter, Junior Warden
Fr. Glenn Miller, Interim Rector
