St. John’s youth fight hunger

Our Food Pantry Ministry has been addressing growing needs, and our youth are tacking that problem head-on. On February 1, Youth/Scout Sunday, our youth will take part in a national program called “Souper Bowl of Caring,” which started with a simple prayer, “Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those who are without a bowl of soup to eat.” Their skit during worship will focus on the problem of hunger and what we can do about it.

One way to help is to contribute funds to help bridge the gap between our food donations and our neighbors’ needs. We will have envelopes in the pew, as well as a large collection SOUP POT in Parish Hall, so please give generously. All contributions will stay at St. John’s, to support our Food Pantry Ministry.

We can double the impact! A charitable foundation has offered to match any funds we raise — up to $1000 — so that will double the impact of your Souper Bowl contributions! (If you mail a check, please write “Souper Bowl” in the memo line.)
